Lost Memories :( : legaladvice

I dropped my wedding dress off about a year ago at a dry cleaners down the street from my house. I even had it repaired there as well. They called and left a message about 6 months ago saying that it was ready. I went in today to pick it up (as I lost track of time because I recently had a baby), and they told me that they had donated it a month ago. No calls, no messages, no emails, nothing. There is also nothing in my agreement with them that says that they can donate it if it is not picked up. Is there anything I can do legally to sue for the price of the dress/ emotional distress, ect.

Most dry cleaners get rid of it after a month. They kept it and called her even though it had been six months!

Reminds me when I worked at a photo place. Someone gave us a VHS to convert to CD. Called them to tell them it's ready. Number was disconnected and no longer in use.

No email on file or any other number. Kept it few a few months past our policy tried again and nothing. 2 years later we tried one last time and nothing. Finally tossed it and 2 weeks later she comes to pick it up.

She told us she just forgot about it and was very sad and angry at us acting like it's our fault we couldn't reach her. If that VHS was so important to her then why did she "forget" about it for over 2 years?
