It makes you think. Praise and acceptance are not the same as love and affection. Where as in the other nations love and affection are already there but in the fire nation army, acceptance is the only thing that is wanted. Caring for someone is foolish, especially toward the end of azulas downfall.

Ozai gave Zuko the impossible mission of finding the Avatar with the hope that he'd never return. Instead, that "impossible" mission made Zuko stronger and more confident. Not only did he return, he seized the throne he never thought he deserved.

Ozai gave Azula the now very possible task of finding the Avatar with the hope that she'd succeed and return. Instead she failed time and again, lost all her confidence and became a crazed, pitied creature. She returned a failure and lost the throne that was handed to her, that throne she thought she always deserved.
