I used to work for TTG from 2010 to 2011 (credited on the BttF, Poker Night and Puzzle Agent games) and I can say with 100% certainty that devs were underpaid back then and, at least at the time, there was little to no respect given to the incredibly dedicated and loyal community.
Additionally, the time I worked there was the same time they started working on "super secret" projects involving the iPad. Company-wide emails went out telling those not on the project to not approach or even speak to those that were. Developers on the iPad projects were literally closed off from the rest of the company in one of the conference rooms to work -- for 9+ months.
