Quick edit: I probably could’ve phrased that more carefully; What I really meant was that, regardless of the intended purpose, it’s still a really cool and useful design. Much more aesthetically pleasing than a big box on a pole. It’s a minimalist installation with a purpose, I always think that kind of stuff is neat.
Well phones aside I could see this helping someone who might have trouble seeing what the symbol is on the other side of the road. On very bright days it could be harder to see the walk symbol-especially if your eyes aren’t as fantastic.

Honestly I think it’s pretty genius regardless of the reasoning. It’s in the Netherlands if anyone was wondering.
