Extremely good boys.

This seemed too good to be true, so I set out to disprove it, and... It's true, and just as cute as it ought to be.

After many generations, we were reduced in number to barely six families. We resigned ourselves to our fate against the swift ones, the dark demons who came in the night to tear our eggs from their nests, our young screaming as they were dragged away to horrid fates.

"But then there came the turn, two warriors from across the sea. Though they were almost as kin to the dark ones, they were broad of shoulder, thick of fur and wary of eye. Without a word they went about their grim business, attacking any dark one that dared approach our huddled colony. With teeth and fury they drove the dark ones back, and for the first time in many seasons we did not wake to the blood of fallen children on the ice.

That was many generations ago, and still the two stand guard. They have watched our children flourish, and again our colony thrives. Still, they do not speak our tongue, and they only speak in war-cries. We may never know where these noble guardians came from, but some--the oldest among us--say they were brought by the Titans, the ancient ones who watch us from afar, with their strange tools and great bergs of metal-ice that carry them across the water. Some say they have witnessed the guardians approach the Titans, their gestures speaking of friendship and old bonds of respect and honor. Surely, these guardians are the allies or even the creation of these enigmatic beings, a gift from those ancient and timeless powers that have watched us for generations unchanging. They have brought us back from the brink. We may never know why. But we hope their purpose is one of benevolence."
