d) the middle class aren't really middle-class. They're drowning in debt. Because we're in a new gilded age. Things look good on the surface; everyone's got a 900-dollar phone in their back pocket... but there's a layer of rot underneath

Most "middle-class" people are not middle-class by the old definition. They are living paycheck to paycheck and drowning in debt with no end in site. In Arizona nearly one in three Amazon employees is on food stamps. Citizens with full time employment who can not make ends meet while their boss is the richest man ever.
