Sounds like me trying to get out of school.

Honestly pet insurance is the best thing I’ve ever discovered. I get five free “sick” visits and one wellness visit a year and pay around $250. Def worth it, anything I’m worried about I just take him to the vet and I only pay for prescriptions (if needed)

A few years ago I woke up and my dog wouldn’t get out of bed for his walk. I picked him up and when i put him down he was putting zero pressure on his front right paw. I checked the pads, squeezed it lightly, there didn’t seem to be anything wrong with it. But when he tried to walk, he kept the paw up and wouldn’t put any weight on it.

My wife was freaking out, i carried him outside and he hobbled around and peed and then just sat down in the grass and wouldn’t move. I brought him back upstairs and he seemed super lethargic and sad and started whimpering. We’re a one car household, and I work from home, so we decided to take him to the emergency vet. We carefully carried him to the car, and he sat on my wives lap, closely cuddled. We rolled down the windows and be put is head out loving the wind like he does. Stopped whimpering, started smiling.

We get the vet and he realizes where we are and we get out of the car. I’m carrying him and he’s super squirmy, so I think he might have to poop so i put him down on the ground carefully. Suddenly he’s favoring his left front paw. Zero weight, totally in the air, right front paw is fine. We find it odd, so i see if he can walk to the vet and i put on his leash and tug him a little. He’s limping dramatically, but slowly starts sniffing the grass with both legs down. We get closer the vet and he starts to walk completely fine away from the vet, pulling with all of his strength. My wife and i look at each other thinking there is no way. Dogs don’t fake being hurt??

Pick him up and go into the vet. He says he walked him up and down the hallway, did a surface check, everything is 100%. Dog is smiling like a little shit. I asked the vet if he thinks he was faking it, and if that’s possible, and he looks down and my dog and says “You tell me.”. Dog wins. I was so impressed. We take the day off of work and drive to the beach and got him In-N-Out.

tl:dr my dog faked an injury to get me and my wife to take a day off of work.

edit: did my best to fix the wall of text sorry i ramble
