We got a pet water fountain a couple of days ago, and our cat drank for a good minute when I set it up.
He always had clean fresh water, but I read that some cars prefer flowing or disturbed water since they beleive it's fresher. He also appeared to drink more in the past when we moved the water bowl away from the food, which they supposedly also aren't fans of.
After all of this, our cat still tires to drink from the bathtub.......
