Getty Images has a color image of her that was obviously taken at the same time as the posted photo. Getty says that image was taken by John Bryson for LIFE magazine in 1978, which is possible because she reported for duty at NASA in July 1978.
I found a previous posting of the photo where a former redditor actually contacted her about the photo. She confirmed the photo was taken by Bryson for LIFE but her recollection is that it was in 1980 or 1981 before her first flight.
