The importance in this all, to me, was the mutual respect each side had for their opponent. Never was there mocking or libel in the public eye. They went to battle and fought valiantly. Rough, to the bone, but valiant.
And now, many years later, one respects the other in death. It’s sportsmanship, when you get down to it.
