Why did that redditor even make the comment, it had nothing to do with the comment being replied to? Like, that that comment was actually pretty shallow and pedantic.

One might assume the protector of a magical realm would facilitate debt reduction with adjacent kingdoms. No one wants a knock on the door, "the payment on the magic hands that protect us from debt is overdue."

The weird part is that the first commenter isn't really even using it as a filler word. I've started to notice, more and more often, that when people start a sentence with the word "Like," it's being used as a new emphatic or illustrative conjunctive adverb, which is how it's being used here in both cases.
