I went to my cousin's college graduation in 2002 from UC Santa Cruz. Upon finding seats, they called us all to order and had us sit down. My 12 year-old brain was very confused as to why one guy wasn't sitting down the entire time and no one seemed to care. He was a clear foot or two higher than everyone else sitting down and I just didn't get why he got to stand and no one else did. Then, at the end of the ceremony when everyone stood, I realized he HAD been siting the entire time, it was just Kareem attending his son's college graduation.

Wooden was Kareem's coach at UCLA where he had arguably the greatest college basketball career in history. He won 3 national championships (freshmen didn't play on the varsity team so he couldn't win the first year). I think he only lost one game when he was sick) and thrashed that other team next time they met. Kareem (who was then known as Lew Alcindor) credits Wooden with teaching him valuable life lessons that he still uses every day.

Wooden is widely considered the greatest college coach ever.

Kinda surprising to see either of them alive. Don’t see many people over 7’ reach their 70s; heart problems.
