Wait... If he will ask for sanctuary status doesn't that mean that he wants asylum there?

I work fraud investigations for a bank, get a lot of requests for documentation from law enforcement in regards to people who’ve reported fraud, and a ton of subpoenas.

Couple months back this detective from southern Arkansas sends a fax to us requesting documentation stemming from a victim who had a card fraudulently opened through us. No problem. I compile all the docs, download all the phone calls. I notice there’s no email address on the cover sheet, only the return fax number.

So I call the guy because there’s too many pages to fax and obviously you can’t fax a call recording. Ask him for his work email. Dude gives me a yahoo address. I’m like sorry, has to be an official email address. Dude sounds uncomfortable, lowly stammers out something in what sounded like a shameful tone that I could only make out half of.

“Hey, sorry man, I didn’t catch that. Can you repeat it?”

“The sheriff’s office doesn’t have official email. The building doesn’t even have internet access.”

<internally> Dafuq?

“Uh, ok...”

Had to get permission from on high to send to a personal email, which is generally a no no.

So yeah, when Huckabee has got all of his civil servants having access to some basic ass shit like email, then maybe he can talk some shit. But probably not.

Edit: I of course can not rule out that at some point they had official email, but lost it. I didn’t drill the guy since he was obviously embarrassed. How would they lose email? Well, when a business isn’t doing well, IT is one of the first things to get chopped. I have absolutely fuck all idea what it costs to run an email server for a county, or contract someone to do so, but I bet it isn’t cheap.

But consider you’re in an severely economically depressed area and you have to make hard choices about what services to chop. Really not a stretch at all.

Edit 2: Yes, obviously Huckabee hasn’t been governor in a few years. But when he’s attacking a different state, it’s fair game to point out that he didn’t leave his state in the best condition, and still advocates positions that keeps the status quo intact.
