First, LeBron did more than “dunk a million basketballs.” He’s a transcendent talent who knows how to maximize the impact of his talent professionally and socially. He’s also loyal and he gives back. He’s a rare talent and a rare dude.

Second, this post is dead on. LeBron’s school is amazing. All schools should be amazing. If LeBron can do it, you’re state’s government should be able to.

More importantly than the asinine discussion about whether or not this supports private schools, LeBron is clearly making the case that other factors affect education. He's not giving kids bikes so they can flex, he's giving them bikes so they can get to school reliably. He's not giving kids after school programs to turn them into athletes, he's doing it to reduce idle time so they don't get into drugs and trouble. These social welfare programs matter, especially for poor kids.
