A teenager who attached uplifting messages to a bridge to help people facing a mental health crisis has helped save six lives, police said.

One note says: "Even though things are difficult, your life matters; you're a shining light in a dark world, so just hold on.".

Northumbria Police Ch Supt Sarah Pitt said it was an "innovative way to reach out to those in a dark place".

Thousands have signed an online petition for the Walt Disney Co. to rehire Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn after he was fired from the third film in the series Friday.

Disney responded within hours by announcing it had fired Gunn.

Daughters view the physical attractiveness of their spouses as more important than their parents

New research from China indicates that daughters and their parents don’t always see eye-to-eye when it comes to their preferences for potential spouses.

The study, published in the British Journal of Psychology, found that parents tend to prefer a high-income but less attractive man for their daughters.

In other words, daughters viewed the physical attractiveness of a potential spouse as more important than their parents. »
