Brilliant, the guy pointing makes it.

EDIT So here's what I meant. I clicked on the picture and liked it straight away, First impressions: the light fade from bright (like the sun?) to dim, the colours (oops, whatagiveaway!), the group of characters with the main character to the foreground, just, he doesn't crowd out or diminish the others, the whole storyline (Why were they signing it in a bar? Which one is the officiant? I could go on, it's rich with sub-text.)

Then I looked more closely. The groom is interesting. I like the glasses on top of his head, but he looks too young to be near sighted. The way he's holding the pen, sort of hesitant, and the pen looks two toned, interesting. What's he holding in his left hand? Why is the guy pointing got his arm round the next guy? Is he trying to bring him in - is he otherwise a peripheral player? And the guy on the right is in half darkness, a nice renaissance feel about that too, plus the way he's leaning on the pool table, a plump Rembrandt hand, but with a strength about it. Is the girl smiling? I think her eyes say yes, but we can't tell. Is there a story there? What's her relationship to the groom? She's right next to him, pride of place. The pointing guys furrowed brow makes is a strong look. Is he the Best Man?

But the best image of all is the guy's pointing finger. It's biblical in its strength and intensity. Like Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam. And the way it fades into his arm, through the cuff and jacket. Then the arm bends round the woman's head, a sort of trompe l'oeil, but it recovers at the shoulder level. Brilliant.

So as I said, " Brilliant, the guy pointing makes it."

They're actually looking at the Pool Table Rules to see if there really is a sub clause "Pub Rules" that allow for various chicanery
