My girlfriend keeps asking me why I'd wanna go there and it's like:

JUST FUCKING LOOK AT IT

Alaskan here who lives on Kenai Peninsula - Kenai Fjords is one of the items on my extremely short "must do" list for any visitors.

Seriously, do it. It's so much more than Denali (IMHO) or many of the other places most people have heard of more. Denali is pretty and all, but you can see the same wildlife (and more) in the Fjords, plus whales, otters, glaciers, etc... You will regret it if you go to the mainland and don't go. Boat tour is 1000% worth it

Also the drive from Anchorage down the Kenai Peninsula is well-regarded as one of the most beautiful drives in the world, along Alaska 1 and Turnagain arm. Seriously, do it.

EDIT: Also, shout-out to /r/Alaska, great resource for anyone interested in more info. I'm just one person with my own opinions, I don't speak for all Alaskans. Be nice though, it's small sub and we do tire of constant tourist questions, so at least try a search first and if you can't find something, feel free to post.

EDIT2: All those asking for which boat tour, I'm not sure if there is a best or not, there are quite a few - I don't live in Seward, I live elsewhere on the peninsula. (Kenai is the name of a huge number of things here, a landmass (peninsula) bodies of water (lake AND river) town, national park, wildlife refuge, etc.) Hit up /r/Alaska as mentioned above, and check if someone else has asked - I'm sure if they have, someone more knowledgeable (like a Seward local) will have responded.
