I have to wonder, how do people come up with these sounds? Do they just have insane imaginations, or are the sounds based on something? It's impressive how iconic these pretty random sound effects are now.
The Foley Artist is Jeff Hutchins. I used to work on the show for a season or two. He is a super cool guy, as you'd expect. He explained that the sound was as if you were spitting and making a farting noise at the same time. pthffft. pthffft. Fun fact, there are actually three sounds going at the same time. 1) the material they are stepping on. 2) actual thunk sound to sort of simulate a shoe sound. 3) the cartoon sound. all get mixed down and you mostly hear the cartoon sound this OP is referencing too!
