I think the reason he was so beloved was that he was one of the most, if not the most genuine guy on a television show ever. He didn't offer anything but respect and admiration for every single piece of wildlife he came across. If everyone aspired to model their lives a little bit more like Steve, the world would be a better place.

Future generations won't really understand the Crocodile Hunter, even if they go back and watch his stuff. It's one thing to watch it when he's dead, because you look at it and think "Well of course that guy's dead, how could he not be?" When he was alive you would look at him and think "Jesus Christ, not only is that guy not dead, he's probably out there doing more shit like that RIGHT NOW." It was a fundamentally different experience.
