CLOSE A special education teacher from the Dumont School District left a parting gift for her beloved students after she passed away: $1 million.

DUMONT — About 10 years ago, Superintendent Emanuele Triggiano remembers laughing when a retired teacher told him that she was going to donate a million dollars.

Genevieve Via Cava, a special educator teacher for the Dumont school district, had amassed a small fortune throughout her life.

When she passed away in 2011, she left her savings to help some of the people who meant the most to her: her special education students.

Via Cava, who had no children, had spent most her of professional career in the school district, teaching both regular and special education.

In addition to being a caring teacher in the classroom, Via Cava tried to help students outside the classroom too, said Kennedy.

GameStop to Start Selling Comic Books

The latest move is yet another step in that comic-centric direction, as Bleeding Cool has learned that Gamestop will start offering comics themselves directly in certain locations.

Elephant poachers shot dead by rangers at wildlife reserve in Kenya

Three poachers have been killed and two others injured following a gun battle with rangers at a Kenyan wildlife reserve.

The rangers, from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) exchanged fire with the poachers, who were reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles.

“More officers have been deployed to conduct regular security patrols at the park and ensure wildlife is protected from the poachers,” he said. »
