BUN ALERT

Aw. I used to work out in a garden center and thought it was pretty fun. I liked working outside.

Come in early to water the plants and see the sleeping bumble bees, say hi every year to the duck who would make her nest on the same plant rack, catch the little lizards that get shipped in with the plants sometimes, kept track of a huge slug's journey across the garden center, watch the family of groundhogs across the way...

Good times.

Edit - I always let the bumble bees sleep. Never sprayed them with the water because I mean, I'd sure hate getting woken up that way so they would probably too.

The other gardeners and I would rope off the duck's plant rack so people couldn't reach into her nest and bother her, though sometimes we'd feed her while she sat on the eggs. Came back every year I worked there (probably the same one, right?). We escorted her and her new baby ducks across the side street to the pond a few times - opened up the side gate for her to walk through and made sure no cars were coming down the street.

Saw 2 ducks fight once. Had to break it up. Got to pet lots of puppers. Can't forget the frog buddies. Catch and release, don't want them to get smushed. That pond nearby was a haven for many, including at least one snek frend. I have returned a couple of baby birds to nests.

The huge slug I named Bradley, and I believe it took him 3 days to get from the registers by the exit to the back of the GC. Wherever you are Bradley, godspeed you king slug.

Edit - Thank you for all the very nice comments.
