Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could add a charitable donation of any amount to our orders to push it above shipping minimum, to round up evenly, or just for he hell of it?
I ordered a desk of the Office Depot website a few years back and I ran into the same issue. Free shipping at $50, my order was $49.99 or something close to that. Shipping was gonna be like $9-10, so I just needed to find something cheaper to make it worth it. The cheapest thing I could find was a small pack of post-it notes, so I added it and got my free shipping.
Well, a few days later, a delivery truck showed up at my door. He comes up and he hands me the post-it notes. I ask him where my desk was and he explained that sometimes they split deliveries on orders. The very next day, my desk arrives.
Not sure how cost effective it is doing two different shipments, but it definitely can’t be when one of them is for post-it notes only.
Edit: it was Office Depot, not Home Depot. Too many depots in this world.
