Yankovic Misses Beer Millions

'Weird Al' Yankovic has revealed that he turned down a multi-million dollar beer endorsement.

The musical prankster told Mojo Magazine that he was offered five million dollars to become the ongoing spokesman for a beer brand.

And to this day he still rues the decision to turn down the offer.

He said, “I don’t have a whole lot of regrets. A number of years ago a beer company offered me five million dollars, back when that was a lot of money, to be their commercial spokesperson”.

He said he turned it down because, “a lot of my fans were young and impressionable, so ethically I believe I did the right thing, but not a day goes by when I don’t think, ‘Hmm, an extra five million dollars would really come in handy’."

This family-friendly policy bears out, as in the past he has expressed concern that certain, more profane parodies by other comedians have been attributed to him.

'Weird Al' is touring Australia in March 2011.

I wonder if this guy is going to be remembered as fondly and at a nigh paragon-status as Mr. Rogers is. He always seems to be such a stand-up guy.

"Guys, I'm Weird Al Yankovic. Not Weird Al Coholic."

Weird Al doesn't drink, use drugs or even profanity. He's also been a vegan since 1992 but doesn't vocalize his beliefs because they are entirely personal. Upon being asked about his diet, he clarified by saying, "I am still a vegetarian, and I try to be a vegan, but I occasionally cheat. If there's a cheese pizza on the band bus, I might sneak a piece."
