Old fart here: When I was a kid, back in the 1950's and 1960's, it was just assumed that you would never see a bald eagle in your life in the continental United States. We had heard that there were still a few in Canada and Alaska, but that was like hearing that Sasquatch exists.

This is still so amazing to me to see pictures like this. I have counted 50 bald eagles where I live in the wintertime when they gather for open water where they can find food.

A flock of bald eagles should be called a freedom of eagles.
