As someone with a young child, it really puts it into perspective of why they freak out if they can’t find their favorite stuffed animal. To them it is their best friend who is lost.
What I also really like, that I haven’t seen anyone point out yet, is that Calvin’s mom, mindful that he’d leave Hobbes out, keeps an eye out for when he’s gone so she can get him. Calvin has no idea! My mom did all sorts of stuff for me that I had no idea about until I got older. Very grateful for her.
