image for Community support surges after theft from Radisson teen's rock museum

After someone broke into the shop and stole a variety of his specimens, amateur and professional rock enthusiasts stepped up to help the teen get his museum back up and running.

Someone had helped themselves to items estimated to be worth $6,000 to $8,000, including a piece of rare ocean jasper worth about $3,000.

“I’ve had nonstop emails since yesterday,” Tyreman said on Tuesday, noting all the attention has been slightly overwhelming but he’s thankful so many people are supporting his museum.

People from as far away as New Mexico have contacted him to send specimens from their own collections.

The Royal Saskatchewan Museum has also offered to donate a variety of its duplicates.

“I’m going to use it to get replacement pieces and hopefully use it to one day buy the building,” he said.

“I would have preferred to keep a couple more, but it’s been pretty good — I am hoping my specimens are found, though.”. »
