Don’t get these tattoos guys, the ink is carcinogenic.

Source: own a tattoo shop

Edit: they also only “glow” for a few months

Considering getting one because of this post?

There are two types of tattoos regarding light. One uses UV active ink as posted here and another uses glow-in-the-dark ink. Second ink contains phosphors. A phosphor is a substance that radiates visible light after being energized. Same thing as any glow in the dark plastics. To make phosphors more visible and retain more energy, or light, you must add a radioactive substance of some sort and you can see where this is going. There is no glow in the dark tattoo ink approved by FDA. However there are some UV active inks approved. They only glow under UV light and get old (blurred) quite soon. Also you have to watch for the first couple of months after getting one to not expose it to sunlight too much. Keep in mind that this is a relatively new type of body modification and we still don't know much about it.

tl;dr: For the sake of your health, I would advise you to not get one.

Per /u/doublecloverleaf here.

Skipping over the whole ink discussion, the body is well done but the tail needs some help. It honestly doesn't look like it is done by the same artist. The body has smooth curves with consistent thickness while the tail has circles that are quite pointy at parts. Also why can you see the full circle through the tail but not the body?
