I think you can have regrets without living in them.
To me, having regret shows that I understand that I screwed up and hurt someone. Accepting that responsibility is part of maturity; that does not mean I have to lay down and die in a ditch of my regrets.
TL;DR: I own my regrets, but my regrets don't own me.
In case you guys are wondering, this person was former scientist and president of India, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam. He is perhaps, the only president of India who is loved and respected by every person regardless of their caste, religion or political affiliation.
I highly recommend you guys to read his autobiography, Wings of Fire.
There is this one particular section from that boom which I vividly remember. During one his trip to an orphanage, Dr. Kalam was moved by the sight of children dragging heavy prosthetics weighing 4 kilograms. He and his team designed ortho-callipers by using composite heat materials (generally used for rockets) which weighed 400 grams. For many, he is truly the g.o.a.t.
