For all those who appear to be doubtful: this is a very famous open letter. It was published in an Ohio paper in 1865, and is believed to have been dictated by Jordan Anderson (a former slave) to his employer, an abolitionist. It's uncertain how much editing she may have done.

Man I wish I could see the recipients face when he read this.

Though I have to admit, as funny as it is, there is such an undercurrent of sadness in it. The fact he had to write that he wouldn’t have his daughters ‘brought to shame’ by their masters, as happened to two other girls.. Jesus.
