Jehovah's Witness Palmer Congregation Sexual Abuse Investigation

Authored by faithleaks.org and submitted by relevantlife

In 1999 accusations were made against a member of the Jehovah's Witness church. The accusations were made by one of his daughters to the leaders of the Palmer Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brimfield Massachusetts.

The following files document the various correspondences that took place within the Jehovah’s Witness organization as this case unfolded and was investigated by church leaders.

The Documents span several years and they detail the accounts of the original accuser, another daughter, and a female not related to the accused that later came forward.

The documents are listed in chronological order. All names have been redacted and color coded.

When I was about 7, I was adopted out of a Jehovah's Witness family. It was a closed adoption, so I didn't have any contact with my biological family until I was about 20. I had posted a public post on Facebook when I was trying to sell a car, and they had searched my name and found me.

The reunion was extremely emotional, but after the first couple of days, each family member started to actively recruit my sister and I (we were adopted together) into the Jehovah's Witness community. What began as a happy reunion was quickly soured by their relentless effort to recruit my sister and I. They would comment on my sister's social media pages, saying that she was sinning. The other family members would invite me over for dinner, just to talk about being a Jehovah's Witness.

There wasn't a single family member that didn't try, and eventually, when they realized that it wasn't going to happen, mysteriously, they vanished into thin air again.

I'm sure there are some good people who are Jehovah's Witnesses, but I have had such bad experiences with them.

I had a friend in middle school who left the church after he turned 18, and they won't even let his own mother speak to him, or else she'll be excommunicated and shunned by the rest of her family. Last I heard (a few years ago), he hadn't heard from anyone in his family in 8 years.

My cousin was raised in the church by my insane and utterly unfit aunt. She lost custody a few years ago, but he was tormented by that community. I'm just so thankful he got out when he did and has since been raised by a wonderful family who ultimately adopted him.

Article about leak.

This is speculation, but it’s possible these docs could be part of the database of alleged sexual abuse that the church is paying $4,000 a day in fines in order to avoid turning over to courts. The fines have already topped 2 million link.

If you read document dated 2004-08-15, you'll read about how the church became aware of allegations that this man had essentially pimped out a young girl and the church didn't report it to the police. In fact, in some of the documents, they seem perturbed that the state police had been contacted and seemed irked that the husband of one of the victims called the cops to the church when the alleged abuser showed up in violation of a restraining order.

From document dated 2004-10-26:

He consistently threatened me with violence and threatened to kill me, my mother and/or my sister if I were to reveal the abuse. He threatened to kill and dismember me, promising my remains would never be found. To emphasize this, he would bring me to fields and woods to show me where he would bury each body part. When I was younger, he would demonstrate by cutting the arms off my doll with a knife. When I was a teenager, he made me bury my dog (accidentally hit by car) while he described how I would be buried should I tell anyone about the abuse. He also used the account of Judges 19 to justify this, saying this would have Jehovah's approval.
