The March 13 race in western Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District pits another Trump-before-there-was-Trump Republican, state Rep. Rick Saccone, against Democratic candidate Conor Lamb.

Marcel Groen, chairman of the Pennsylvania Democrats, said he is “cautiously optimistic” about Mr. Lamb flipping control of the seat.

“[Saccone] is extremely conservative and Conor is the kind of person who fits the district.

Mr. Lamb is focusing his message on the economy and the work he has done fighting the opioid epidemic.

A big unknown in the race is whether the shape of the district actually could change before election day.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court recently heard oral arguments in a case over partisan gerrymandering that could lead to a redrawing of congressional districts.

Conservative Republican Tim Murphy had held the seat since 2003 before stepping down in October. »

Belize Ends Oil Operations in Its Ocean Waters

Belize, home of the largest barrier reef in the western hemisphere, has permanently suspended oil operations in its ocean waters.

"Today is a great day for Belize," said Nadia Bood, Mesoamerican reef scientist at World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

A new study published in the scientific journal Computers in Human Behavior used Instagram to examine whether narcissists are more tolerant of the narcissistic behavior of others.

“Posting selfies is a popular activity that exemplifies narcissistic self-promotion on Instagram,” explained study author Seunga Venus Jin of Sejong University.

They also showed a greater intention to follow fellow narcissists on Instagram and a higher intention to post their own selfies. »
