Since we first looked at the data, the CDC has published new findings, with new data from 2016 available.

The problem is so bad that many experts are labeling the surge in STD rates a national epidemic.

In order to keep you informed about which areas pose the greatest risk, we’ve compiled a nationwide ranking of states by the frequency of STD infection.

The top ten worst states all experienced a rise in the rate of gonorrhea per 100k residents.

Other states fared better, including North Carolina (#7), Louisiana (#2) and New Mexico (#5) which all experienced a decrease in chlamydia infections per 100k.

Significantly, thirty states either maintained their previous position or only moved one place in the overall rankings. »

A 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted three times by three separate men within an hour in an “unprecedented” and gravely traumatising ordeal.

Magic mushrooms 'reboot' brain in depressed people – study

Imperial College London researchers used psilocybin – the psychoactive compound that occurs naturally in magic mushrooms – to treat a small number of patients with depression, monitoring their brain function, before and after.

Images of patients’ brains revealed changes in brain activity that were associated with marked and lasting reductions in depressive symptoms and participants in the trial reported benefits lasting up to five weeks after treatment.

The authors currently plan to test psilocybin against a leading antidepressant in a trial set to start early next year. »
