Fox said today that it has canceled the New York premiere of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which was set for the same night as the hurricane relief telethon.

The studio said it will donate the money budgeted for its Kingsman soiree to Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief.

“Given the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey and the important fundraising efforts happening on September 12, we have canceled that evening’s planned New York film premiere event for Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” a Fox spokeperson said.

To that end, Twentieth Century Fox Film will be donating the money budgeted for the premiere to several of the non-profit groups associated with the telethon.”.

Other events and screenings planned for the action sequel starring Taron Egerton and Colin Firth, including its London premiere on September 18, will go on as scheduled.

Organizers said this morning that they are expanding the relief effort to include those who might be affected by Hurricane Irma, which is looming off the Atlantic Coast. »
